MEMPHIS, Tenn. --
Walker Reeves set a program record and aided in another record to lead the LeTourneau track and field teams at the Rhodes Invite over the weekend in Memphis.
LeTourneau traveled an abbreviated squad for the spring break meet.Â
Reeves set a program record in the mile run as he finished sixth overall with a time of 4:22.35. The mark bested the previous top time by Lorien Nightengale by nine seconds. It is the second straight meet that Reeves set an individual program record.
The senior was also part of a relay program record. The men's 4x800 team with Reeves along with
Austin Jett,
Alexander Hoksbergen, and
Ryan Tally established a new program record of 8:12.49 and won the event. The mark was nearly 31 seconds faster than the previous top program time.
LeTourneau had six runners compete in the men's mile run, with all six setting personal records. Reeves paved the way with his time and top-10 finish, while Hoksbergen was 21st at 4:41.92 followed closely by
Aidan Hynes at 4:43.00. Jett was next at 4:46.10, Tally finished in 4:47.00, and
Ike Lehman came in at 4:48.57.
In the 10,000-meter on Friday night,
Daniel Risberg earned a top-five finish as he completed the event in a time of 38:08.34 to finish fifth overall. In the 400-meter,
Caleb Murillo was 17th overall at 54.65.
Colton Fears was the lone field participant for the YellowJackets and he finished seventh in the javelin at 44.26 meters (145'2).
On the women's side,
Peyton Chaney placed fourth overall in the 10,000-meter run with her time of 47:58.82 in her collegiate debut in the event.Â
