DENTON, Texas -- Despite some rainy weather, the men's outdoor track and field squad found a way to set some new personal and program bests at the Bill Schmidt Classic on the campus of the University of North Texas.
Five personal bests, including one program record, were set overall at the event.
Justin Lindberg achieved a record time in the 200m, running a 24.00, while Jean Michel Ndiaye ran a personal best in the 400m (51.01), which landed him inside the top 15 in that event.
Austin Jett continued to improve his 800m time with a new best mark (2:01.36), placing 19th in that event, and
Alexander Hoksbergen added an 800m best as well (2:06.31), placing inside the top 30 as well.
Calvin Mason added the program record in the shot put, eclipsing his own program-best with a mark of 15.77m (51' 9).
The YellowJackets also notched a first place finish during the meet, with the team of
Caleb Murillo, Jett,
Grayson Gaddis and Ndiaye defeating the competition in the 4x400 relay race with a time of (3:31.79).
In the 100m,
Mitchell Moffitt set his initial season benchmark with a 12.38, while
Ben Sweatt ran an 11.88. Murillo (56.74) and Lindberg (57.17) competed in the 400m, while
Hudson McGuire (4:28.48) and
Aidan Hynes (4:30.22) also ran in the 800m.
Walker Reeves (4:12.34), and Gaddis (4:14.84) placed inside the top 20 in the 1500m, while
Elijah Oudyn (4:24.17) landed inside the top 30.
Ndiaye also competed in the high jump competition, placing sixth (1.85m - 6' 0.75), and
Colton Fears added a top 15 finish in the pole vault (4.30m - 14' 1.25).
In the javelin throw,
Aaron Willeford (44.80m - 146' 11.78) and Fears (39.04m - 128' 1) also had top 10 marks.
