SUWANEE, Ga. -- Coming off his fifth career tournament title, LeTourneau men's golf senior
Kaiden Schneider was named the SCAC Golfer of the Week, announced the league on Wednesday.
It is the sixth career conference weekly honor for Schneider. He becomes the fifth different YellowJacket to collect SCAC weekly awards this season.
A senior from Bullard, Texas, Schneider claimed his first medalist honors of the season with an outstanding performance at the Goliath Compression Invitational. The senior finished 4-under, 212 (68-68-76). Schneider had back-to-back rounds of 68 on Monday to move to 8-under entering Tuesday's final round. He had five birdies in his opening round on Monday and five more in the second as he ended the tournament with 11.
It was Schneider's fifth career individual title and his 20th career top-10 finish. The five career tournament wins for Schneider set a program record.
On the year, Schneider is second on the team with a 73.52 scoring average and six top-10 finishes.
The YellowJackets shot 4-under, 860 for the tournament following rounds of 284 (4-under), 288 (even-par), and 288 (even-par) to capture the Goliath Compression title. LeTourneau finished 35 strokes ahead of second place Jacksonville College and Lyon.
It was the fourth tournament title for LeTourneau this season, tying a program record set in each of the last two seasons.
LeTourneau is next scheduled to play at the SCAC Championships on April 19-21 at the Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas.
