Jim (James) Kohring '74 had an illustrious four-year career for YellowJacket men's basketball.
Kohring ranks in the top-10 in several career categories and was at the top of many records after finishing his four-year career. He set a then-program record with 1,899 career points with 707 made field goals and a .545 field goal percentage. His 485 career free throws was a program record and currently sits second all-time, while his 1,139 career rebounds was first all-time and now ranks second.Â
He scored a then-program record 592 points during his freshman season in 1970-71, which included 164 made free throws (the most in a season at the time). Kohring recorded over 290 rebounds in a season three times, with 319 during the 1973-74 season that ranks fourth all-time. He set a still-program record with 34 rebounds in a game vs. Cedarville on Nov. 21, 1973.
