Roger Kieffer '76 was the first LeTourneau Athletics Hall of Fame inductee to become a member as both a student-athlete and a coach.

During his athletic career at LeTourneau, he had four winning seasons as part of the wrestling program from 1972-76 -- in which he wrestled in three different weight classifications. During two of those seasons, he was the Texas Collegiate Wrestling Association state runner-up. Kieffer also played baseball for the YellowJackets for three seasons and played eight different positions. He earned All-Big State Conference honors as a senior at catcher.

Kieffer returned to LeTourneau in 1977 as the wrestling coach. In each of his six seasons the team competed at the NCCAA Championships. In 1982, he was recognized as the NCCAA Regional Coach of the Year and he coached Mark Blessing to two NCCAA national championships. Kieffer also coached baseball for four seasons from 1980-83 and led the team to the NAIA district playoffs in 1983.

More than those accomplishments, Kieffer was most proud of the character development and integrity he brought to the baseball and wrestling programs at LeTourneau.
