LeTourneau Athletics Hall of Fame
Teresa Denton '98 was an original member of the modern-era LeTourneau women's basketball program and helped the team to two NCCAA national championships.
A three-time All-Big State honoree and an NCCAA All-American, Denton was one of the most decorated players in program history. She holds the program's career record for points (2,052), field goals made (801), field goal percentage (.522), free throws made (406), rebounds (1,082), and games played (124). In four seasons, Denton never missed a game.
She earned NCCAA All-America honors in 1998 following a season in which she totaled 15.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game to lead LeTourneau to its second straight NCCAA national title. She earned NCCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in 1998 as she led the YellowJackets to a comeback win in the national championship game.
In each of her four seasons, Denton averaged at least 15 points and 8.0 rebounds. She is the only player in program history with over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Her 42 points and 15 made field goals vs. Wiley on Feb. 13, 1996 remain as program records.
She led LeTourneau to three straight Big State Conference tournament titles and three consecutive trips to the NAIA Tournament to go along with NCCAA national titles.
In her career, Denton was part of two national championship teams and won 87 games. She is the only player in program history to have her number retired by LeTourneau (#44).
