LeTourneau Athletics Hall of Fame
A four-year standout, Wayne Diamond '65 set the bar for excellence for YellowJacket basketball.
Diamond scored a then-program record 1,896 career points across four years. He made 778 career field goals (then a program record and still in the top-five today) and his career 52.9 percent field goal percentage still ranks in the top-10 all-time. Diamond also hauled in a then-record 1,096 career rebounds and is still just one of three YellowJackets to register over 1,000 career rebounds.
For his career, Diamond averaged 17.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game while starting all 108 games.
He was a two-time NAIA All-District first team honoree, garnering the award in both the 1963-64 and 1964-65 seasons. He was also selected to the NCIA All-District first team in 1964 and 1965.
In his four years, LeTourneau won 62 games -- including a then-record 20 in the 1962-63 season. His play led the YellowJackets to the Texas Junior College Athletic Association (TJCAA) championship in 1963.Â
